About the role

Meller is a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, with over 30 years’ experience, having established in 1993. We offer our clients Quantity Surveying and architectural design services and work predominantly in the Food & Drink, Healthcare, Logistics and Laboratories sectors. Due to our sustained growth, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team to:

  • Work in a growing QS team and independently manage a variety of projects of various sizes and complexity across the UK.

  • Work on projects from £100k to £100m

  • Work closely with our in-house architectural team and other external design partners 

A typical day could involve:

  • Initial feasibility studies & early cost advice

  • Cost estimates & budgeting

  • Procurement & contractual advice

  • Preparation of tender documents (i.e. General Preliminaries, Works Schedules & Bills of Quantities etc.)

  • Contractor selection, tendering & analysis

  • Cost advice on professional fees, FF&E etc

  • Value engineering

  • Preparation of contract documentation

  • Undertaking monthly valuations

  • Cost control & change management

  • Cost reporting & cashflow forecasts

  • Review, value & agree variations to contract

  • Employers Agent and Contract Admin duties

Skills & Credentials

RICS Chartership (ideal but not essential).

Experience with managing own project workload and client facing delivery.

Good initiative, communication and ‘essential’ skills.

10 years + experience in PQS roles.

Experience in both pre and post contract works including preparing costs estimates, tender documents including pricing schedules/ general preliminaries, Bills of Quantities and measurement, contract documents, financial reports etc.

Experience with Traditional  JCT forms of contracts.

Experience with NEC forms of Contract (ideal but not essential).

Experience carrying out Employers Agent and Contract Administration duties (ideal but not essential).

Relevant Degree level.
